I am writing this letter to you on behalf of my friend Melodie in San Francisco who could greatly use your help. Melodie is a 49 year old woman who due to a traumatic brain injury at a young age, has many troubles regarding her brain functioning, with a focus on her short term memory and problems with her cognitive abilities. The side effects of her brain injury and additional difficulties(including ADHD and OCD) as caused her to start hoarding. Her brain injury has left her unable to recall the location of physical objects. Melodie's hoarding behavior is something she has repetitively asked, and tried to get help with but her memory problems make this difficult, in addition to many people misunderstanding the ways her disability truly causes her to function.  This built up until November 17th 2000, Adult Protective Services along with her landlord arranged a dumpster to be placed outside and began hauling *ANYTHING* made of cardboard or wood and it's contents into the dumpster. This eventually led to her in her current state of homeless,  her possessions spread into three separate storages.

SO! What is it that Melodie needs from you Oprah? She's needs someone to come and help her train and rehabilitate her brain.  This is what Melodie has to say herself about her needs."I desperately need professional organizer help especially to be ready to set up a new living environment tailored for my memory retrieval deficits.  Specifically, I need someone to assist Identifying what is essential for ME to function. Not what they would find essential to function OR what they *IMAGINE* I need to function." She is willing to give up possessions provided she adequately knows she has what is needed for her to function.  She is capable of upholding a system if the system is created according of what she needs.
